Steve Schmidt, political strategist and speaker at the upcoming Atlantic Meets the Pacific Conference, is the vice chairman of public affairs at Edelman, the world’s largest public relations firm in the world.
Named by PR Week as one of the 25 most powerful leaders in the public relations industry in 2008, he provides strategic counsel to Fortune 500 companies, sports teams, Hollywood studios, trade associations, interest groups and nonprofits.
In 2008, Mr. Schmidt served as a senior advisor to Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign, an event on which the HBO film, “Game Change,” is based. Before that, Mr. Schmidt served as campaign manager for the re-election of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and as deputy assistant to the President during the Bush administration where “he advised on a wide range of issues and worked at the intersection of public communications, policy development, legislative advocacy and political strategy.”
