Another speaker has been added to The Atlantic Meets the Pacific lineup: Kristiina Vuori. Vuori is the Pauline & Stanley Foster Presidential Chair, president, and interim CEO of Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute. She has also been professor and director of Sanford-Burnham’s National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center for the last ten years.
According to Sanford-Burnham’s website, “Dr. Vuori’s laboratory is working to identify the molecular mechanisms of adhesion-dependent survival and motility in normal cells…Dr. Vuori’s research is aimed at unraveling the cell mechanisms of the most life-threatening aspect of cancer, which is cancer metastasis.”
Catch Sanford-Burnham’s glimpse into Vuori’s laboratory as she describes her work.
And be sure to catch her at the third annual conference hosted by UC San Diego Extension and The Atlantic Magazine on October 2nd through 4th at Calit2 and Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, California. For more information on registration and speakers, like Vuori, visit atlanticmeetspacific.com.
